About the role

We’re recruiting nursing and midwifery staff to help fill short-term relief roles in rural and remote Queensland Health facilities. You’ll be working from 2 to 12 weeks at a time in a range of locations across Queensland.

Every placement will be different. The role you do will depend on your grade, your scope of practice and the facility you’re placed at. You could be working in a multi-purpose health service, a primary health centre or a hospital.

Some roles also include specialities, like:

  • emergency care
  • perioperative
  • intensive care
  • mental health
  • midwifery
  • aged care
  • palliative care
  • working with First Nations peoples.

We're currently recruiting

  • Registered nurses (grade 5)
  • Registered midwives (grade 5)
  • Clinical nurses (grade 6, band 1)
  • Clinical nurse consultants (grade 7)

Eligibility

You need to have Australian working rights to join our highly experienced and diverse team. You’ll also need:

  • a degree in nursing or equivalent qualification
  • at least 2 years of postgraduate nursing experience
  • a current registration and practising certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  • an NDIS worker screening check.

This is a vaccine preventable disease (VPD) risk role so you’ll need to be vaccinated or prove natural immunity against:

  • hepatitis B
  • measles, mumps and rubella
  • chicken pox
  • whopping cough.

For some roles you’ll also need protection against:

  • hepatitis A
  • tuberculosis
  • Japanese encephalitis.

Pay and benefits

You’ll get a generous hourly rate, which includes an incentive for these flexible roles:

  • $94.94 to $103.07 an hour for clinical nurse consultants (grade 7)
  • $77.32 to $82.79 an hour for clinical nurses (grade 6, band 1)
  • $59.26 to $76.03 an hour for registered nurses (grade 5).

We’ll also contribute 12.75% of your annual salary towards your super.

We’ll also pay for:

  • your accommodation during your work placement
  • travel to and from each placement location, including travel time.
