Joining the network to start training

To be considered for a network training position you must:

  1. discuss your plan for physician training with a Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Educational Supervisor (ES) or Director of Physician Education (DPE)
  2. ask the DPE or ES to complete the planning for physician training form [PDF 62.76 KB]
  3. upload the form to your RMO application
  4. preference the network in Step 10 of your application. Refer to the how to preference guide [PDF 71.95 KB] for details
  5. submit your application through the RMO campaign within the specified dates.

You can find DPE contact details in network training rotations, hospital information and contacts [PDF 213.71 KB].

For further information read the FAQs for new applicants commencing training [PDF 112.35 KB].

Joining the network to continue or complete training

If you’ve completed all RACP basic training requirements but are yet to pass the exam, you don’t need to join the network. Instead, talk to any Queensland based DPE for further advice.

If you need further placements to meet RACP requirements, you must be selected onto the network. This will allow you to access training resources and be granted approval from a DPE to complete your training.

All network trainees will be allocated training placements geared towards preparing for exams in the third year on the network.

You may be able to sit the exam earlier if there is available training and exam preparation capacity. This will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you choose to sit earlier without prior agreement, the network can’t guarantee to provide access to training support, such as practice exam sessions.

If you intend to attempt the exam earlier, consider which network rotation may best suit your needs. Some rotations may be better placed to accommodate an earlier examination attempt.

To be considered for a network training position you must:

  1. discuss your plan for continuation of training, including outstanding RACP requirements and anticipated exam date with the Network Rotation Coordinator (NRC) of your most preferred rotation
  2. ask the NRC to complete the planning for continuation of physician training form [PDF 88.4 KB]
  3. upload the form to your RMO Campaign application
  4. preference the network in Step 10 of your application. Refer to the how to preference guide  [PDF 71.95 KB] for details
  5. submit your application through the RMO campaign within the specified dates.

You can find NRC contact details in network training rotations, hospital information and contacts [PDF 115.28 KB].

For further information read the FAQs for new applicants continuing training [PDF 110.67 KB].

Joining the network mid-year

In some cases, you can apply to join the network and commence training early (from August). Read the mid-year entry into training document [PDF 215.36 KB] for further information including eligibility criteria.
