The Queensland Advanced Training in Nephrology Program is a statewide process. Renal Heads of Department with advanced training accredited positions support the program.
The program meets the core Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) components of 1 year of nephrology training. The program may offer up to 17 positions for commencement in 2025.
Eligibility
To apply you need to either be a current Advanced Trainee in nephrology or a new candidate.
New candidates must have:
- successfully completed or be in the process of completing the FRACP clinical examination or equivalent recognised qualification
- registration, or ability to secure registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- an interest in nephrology.
Note: the RACP control the timeframes for 2024 Divisional Clinical Exams (DCE). The RACP will provide more information about the release of DCE results via their website.
Applying
You can apply for the Queensland Nephrology Advanced Training Pathway when you apply for the RMO campaign, including the nephrology training section of the application.

To apply, you must complete the online application. It captures information to assess your eligibility and suitability for program selection. All continuing trainees must submit an application via the portal, however, will not be required to interview. This process is in place to capture details of prior training to best inform future placements.
You must upload all supporting documentation and consult your referees before completing the online application. The system automatically generates referee reports and emails them to your nominated referees when you complete the referee section.

- Greenslopes Private Hospital, Brisbane
- Gold Coast Hospital, Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service
- Princess Alexandra Hospital, Metro South Hospital and Health Service
- Logan Hospital, Metro South Hospital and Health Service
- Mater Private Hospital, Brisbane
- Rockhampton Hospital, Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service
- Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Metro North Hospital and Health Service
- Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service
- Toowoomba Hospital, Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service
- Townsville University Hospital, Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
Interview, selection and offer dates
The recruitment and selection process will comply with relevant human resource policies including the principles of equal employment opportunity. The oversight committee reviews all applications to the program. The panel uses assessment criteria to determine eligibility and suitability of applicants for appointment to program positions.
The selection process will be a panel interview with the Renal Heads of Department or their delegates of each hospital. Program placements are offered based on the ranking of interviewed short listed candidates, trainee preferences, facility requirements and clinical workforce demands.
