The training is a centralised statewide recruitment and selection process. Endocrinology Unit Directors from Queensland accredited facilities support the training.

As an Endocrinology Registrar, you’ll be an advanced trainee of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). Read about the endocrinology advanced training on the RACP website.

To apply you must be either a current advanced trainee in endocrinology or a new applicant.

Applying

You can apply for the Queensland Endocrinology Advanced Training Program when you apply for the RMO campaign. Applications for the campaign are open Monday 3 June to Monday 1 July 2024. We won’t accept late applications.

To be eligible for a position you need to provide details for 2 referees and your referees will have to upload reports. If they don’t, you won’t be eligible for a position.

Participating facilities

You can do your first year of the Queensland Endocrinology Advanced Training Program at the following hospitals:

  • Cairns Hospital
  • Darwin Hospital
  • Logan Hospital
  • Sunshine Coast University Hospital
  • Townsville University Hospital
  • Toowoomba Hospital.

Following this you’ll do a second year of training at one of the following hospitals:

  • Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital
  • Princess Alexandra Hospital
  • Mater Hospital
  • Gold Coast University Hospital
  • Logan Hospital.

You’ll also have the option to do a third clinical year on the training pathway. Hospital options are allocated during second year.

Interview and selection

The recruitment and selection process complies with relevant Queensland Health human resource policies including the principles of equal employment opportunity. The Endocrinology Unit Director panel committee reviews all applications to the pathway. The committee uses assessment criteria to determine eligibility and suitability of applicants for appointment to pathway positions within Queensland Health.

The selection process will be a panel interview with the Directors or their delegates of each facility. Positions are allocated according to ranking based on interview, curriculum vitae score and referee reports.
