About the program
Our statewide rural education prevocational program (StREPP) helps early career doctors doing rural placements. It's designed and run by practising rural generalists.
This program focuses on the skills and knowledge you need to work in rural areas. During the program you’ll:
- discuss a mix of clinical scenarios in resource-limited settings, including your own experiences
- use clinical reasoning to manage patients when the cause of their condition isn’t clear
- improve your ability to deliver culturally appropriate care
- improve your ability to manage emergencies and chronic diseases, and do procedural skills.
You’ll also connect with peers in an interactive and safe learning environment.
The program follows the Australian Medical Council’s National Framework for Prevocational Medical Training standards. It makes education a key part of your rural placement and builds on your rotation experience.
