We recruit postgraduate doctors to the pathway twice a year, usually in May and September. We'll post key recruitment dates in early 2025.

You can express your interest if you’d like to stay up to date and know when applications open.

Who can apply

To apply as a postgraduate you must:

  • work for an approved Queensland rural hospital, general practice or health facility
  • want to do most of your fellowship training in a rural or remote area (MM 3 to MM 7).

Your training terms

If you're a postgraduate entrant in the early stages of training, you must negotiate your own hospital prevocational training term in obstetrics, paediatrics and anaesthetics with your employing facility. To learn more about this process, email our team at rural_generalist@health.qld.gov.au.
