As a dentist you'll provide direct patient care, focusing on the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment (surgical and non-surgical) and management of diseases and abnormalities affecting:

  • teeth
  • jaws
  • gums
  • soft tissues of the mouth.

As a member of a dental team, you may be employed in hospital, community, school-based and teaching facilities. You may have access to providing treatment under relative analgesia or general anaesthesia. You may also work in management, governance and policy development roles.
