As a dental assistant, you'll work as a member of a dental team. You'll assist general dental and oral health practitioners but may have the opportunity to work with dental specialists in different fields.
You'll be a vital part of the team, providing care to our patients and assisting with the smooth running of our dental facilities.
You'll be employed in hospital, teaching, community and school-based settings. You can also work in management, health promotion, radiography, sterilising departments, and policy development roles.
In addition to routine chairside assistance, you may be required to:
- liaise with patients
- facilitate administrative tasks and coordinate patient appointments
- prepare the dental chair and treatment area for dental procedures
- record information as requested by the clinician on patient records during dental examinations and other dental procedures
- prepare and reprocess dental instruments, including sterilisation and disinfection procedure
- take and develop x-rays
- order dental materials and manage dental stock and supplies.
