As a speech pathologist, you’ll be providing clinical care and treating people with:

  • swallowing and feeding difficulties
  • speech, language and other communication difficulties that occur for a variety of reasons.

You’ll work in multidisciplinary teams in hospitals or in the community, and you may also provide telehealth and outreach services to people throughout Queensland.

As a speech pathologist in our Hospital and Health Services, you may provide assessment, management and intervention in the following clinical areas:

  • acute hospitals and rehabilitation facilities
  • mental health services
  • child development services
  • community Health Settings
  • specialist Statewide services.

Our speech pathologists have access to clinical research programs and contribute to the ongoing clinical education of speech pathology students across Queensland.

To practice as a speech pathologist in Queensland you must:

Speech Pathologists who qualified overseas must have their qualifications assessed by Speech Pathology Australia.
