As a speech pathologist, you’ll be providing clinical care and treating people with:
- swallowing and feeding difficulties
- speech, language and other communication difficulties that occur for a variety of reasons.
You’ll work in multidisciplinary teams in hospitals or in the community, and you may also provide telehealth and outreach services to people throughout Queensland.
As a speech pathologist in our Hospital and Health Services, you may provide assessment, management and intervention in the following clinical areas:
- acute hospitals and rehabilitation facilities
- mental health services
- child development services
- community Health Settings
- specialist Statewide services.
Our speech pathologists have access to clinical research programs and contribute to the ongoing clinical education of speech pathology students across Queensland.
Qualifications
To practice as a speech pathologist in Queensland you must:
- have a university qualification in speech pathology
- be eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
Speech Pathologists who qualified overseas must have their qualifications assessed by Speech Pathology Australia.
