As a social worker, you'll help clients with issues that may include:
- a major health crisis
- family or parental functioning
- child abuse and neglect
- domestic abuse
- trauma
- unstable housing
- living with disability
- mental ill health
- alcohol or drug addiction.
As a social worker in our Hospital and Health Services, you’ll work in multidisciplinary teams in a range of settings including hospitals and community health centres.
We offer opportunities for social workers in the following clinical areas:
- mental health services for adults, children and youth
- alcohol, tobacco and other drugs services
- family, youth and child and welfare services
- community health
- palliative care
- aged care
- maternal health
- paediatrics
- emergency department
- hospital inpatient services, including intensive care.
Qualifications
To practice as a social worker in Queensland, you must:
- have a tertiary level qualification in social work, and
- be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
This also applies to social workers who qualified overseas.
